                                                                                                   25th Championship Show  5th April 2009
Judge: Mr K Roberts (Zuthis)

It was a privilege to be asked to judge this the 25th Championship Show of our Northern breed club. The venue at Tingley is ideal for a championship dog show the floor is ideal, no mats required. I would like to thank my two stewards on the day Tony and Helen who did a superb job. Also the committee who must have worked hard to arrange and keep everything going smoothly especially the secretary Denise (the secretary’s job is a thankless one that everyone takes for granted).
It is a few years since I last judged and was surprised to find a number of exhibits were “all coat” and looked great but when you go over them they need more body and muscle, please do not forsake a healthy sound dog for coat alone remember the little person inside that jacket likes to run free and roam.
Mouths were another contention but everything goes full circle and the ‘bad ’mouths that were prevalent in the 80’s (then were bred back out) are still in the genes and will re occur in a later generation. I do not however knock a good dog for his teeth and as long as the jaw has the correct width that would enable full dentition I am happy.
Presentation was excellent and on the whole movement has improved in most exhibits. I appreciate a sound dog, conformation is critical as if it is not put together correctly there is no chance it will move correctly.
I was pleased to find such an outstanding dog in my Challenge Certificate winner Johnson’s – Keytor Fool No More, his third, and to compliment him my bitch Challenge Certificate winner Anderton’s - Pekoe Fatal Attraction JW who just pipped him on the day for Best of Breed. Not forgetting my Best Puppy Howards Tameron Mr Black Xs. Well done to all.
